I have had a lot of people ask me why our son's middle name is Risher.
It's an odd name, I admit it.
It was my great-grandmother's maiden name. She died when I was just 3, so I never formally
met her, but I feel the affects of her legacy everyday. I grew up with stories about her
and her love of Jesus. People would tell me she prayed and prayed for her family and the
generations to come.
I had known for years I wanted to honor her somehow, but wasn't sure how.
When we found out we were having a boy, I thought her maiden name would be great for his middle name.

Then, my mom posted this new article from our home newspaper and it sealed the deal.
I don't expect you to be able to see the writing, but I typed it out.

June 16, 1966
"The church and the children are my life," says our subject for this week who was particurally chosen
in view of the special service last Sunday when the membership at First Assembly of God were
celebrating with thanksgiving and dedication a newly decorated sanctuary.
Julia Kirksey had her seventy-eighth birthday last January 17th. She was born and reared in Mississippi
and has witnessed in her lifetime some wonderful time and some hard times. In 1938 she came with her
husband and eight children from Crowville, LA to the Elmwood Community where Mr. Kirksey died, ere
the three youngest children were grown.
"Mother Kirksey"to everyone at the First Assembly of God church, where she served as the first pianist, our
personality has seen 12 charter members grow to present membership of 125.
The humble, Christian attributes of Mrs. Kirksey bespeak a close, daily walk with the Master. The Risher girl
who aspired to be a missionary has not yet put a foot on foreign soil, but her influence has reached out to claim
her family, her friends and perhaps many yet unknown for the Lord. She has two preacher sons and two preacher
grandsons. Her bible is her treasured guideline...

I guess it's time to blog huh?
Well I am now 16 weeks pregnant and we had our 2nd Dr's appointment yesterday and she said everything looked awesome.
The baby has a really strong heartbeat and measuring perfectly. We have to wait until December 12th though to find out
what we are having. Ahhhh wayyyyy to long, we want to know now. Even though, I know we are having a girl :)
We have bought a few things. My crib bedding is "out for delivery" right now on the Fedex truck. I can't wait to see it.
We also bought our stroller/car seat "travel system." Steve is about to start painting the nursery and getting that all ready.

Surprise! Steve and I are having a baby!
We were pretty shocked. We both knew we wanted to start a family quickly, but we didn't think it would
happen that quick. We are beyond excited, scared, nervous, anxious, etc...I guess that's normal.
We are 9 weeks pregnant and we had our first ultrasound today and it was so sweet seeing the heart.
The little thing was going crazy moving around, flipping and such.
We are very excited!

Wedding pictures! Warning there are tons.

First of all, I promised I would blog about the day. It was perfect!
I could not have asked for the most perfect day EVER! It was amazing.
The weather was a warm 64 degree and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Everything went perfect
from beginning to end. I don't think I ever quit smiling throughout the whole day.

My bridesmaids were incredible. They were so attentive and made me feel so
special. I couldn't have asked for anything more from them. They gave me the best
bacherlorette party and really just enjoyed themselves. They smiled alot which made me happy.
My maid of honor was my friend Sae from Japan. She flew from Austrailia to be apart of everything.

Every decoration was just as I envisioned and my music was perfect down to the second. The best
part was the ceremony of course and it was all I ever dreamed. If you know me at
all, you know I have a BIG problem with nervous laughter. At one point during the
ceremony, I started laughing so hard everyone could hear me and I was heaving.
I couldn't stop! When Curtis asked for the rings, the groomsmen led by daring
Paul Austin had a plan to lose the ring and of course I almost lost it laughing.
I did lose it laughing.

Our reception was so much fun. We danced, we ate, the laughed, we cried.
It was incredible. When we left to sparkles, all my dreams of a perfect wedding
came true.

I am now Mrs. Steven Thomas Fisk and loving every minute of it.
